Joshua A. Kane, 35, was among 27 people buste in 2012 as a result of “Operation Watchdog,” a multi-agency investigation led by the New Jersey State Police and the Division of Criminal Justice that targeted offenders, Acting Attorney General Robert Lougy said.
He pleaded guilty on Feb. 8 to a charge of second-degree distribution of child pornography from a 2013 state grand jury indictment.
Kane also was sentenced Friday on a separate child pornography distribution plea to five years, which will run concurrently with the other sentence, Lougy said.
He also will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
Deputy Attorney Anthony Torntore took the guilty plea and handled the sentencing for the state Division of Criminal Justice Financial & Computer Crimes Bureau.
Investigators found 41 videos of child pornography on Kane's computer, along with partial downloads of more than 800 additional files that they said he was sharing.
“Anyone who views and re-distributes child pornography online becomes a willing participant in the brutal sexual abuse and exploitation of children, directly motivating further crimes against innocent victims,” Lougy said.
